Description

Inuvialuit hunters used whistles as hunting calls to attract muskrats and waterfowl. They were made with a strip of baleen or bark held between two pieces of wood bound together at each end with sinew. The inner surfaces of the wood pieces are slightly hollowed, exposing the strip of bark or baleen. A whistling sound was made by blowing through the gap.
